"Jeux sans Frontiere" or JSF was the European giant version of IAK .

What is "Jeux sans Frontières"?
It is a European family entertainment programme which has been in existence for over 25 years and is watched by more than 100 million TV viewers every summer. Its success is due to both its quality and its entertainment value.
It is first and foremost a programme of amusing, appealing and straightforward games in which teams from different countries compete.
It is made up of ten successive programmes, each presenting different games, or a total of almost 100 games each year, in addition to other special entertainment features.
It is coproduced by several European public service broadcasters belonging to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), and broadcast during the summer in prime time.
 
To the English its "It's a Knockout"
but with a much bigger budget.
It is known to the Dutch as "Spel Zonder Grenzen".
To the Germans as "Spiel Ohne Grenzen".
To the Italians as "Giochi Senza Frontiere"
and to the French as "Jeux Sans Frontiere"

The purpose of JSF, is each country competes in a home competition to win the prize of representing there country in Europe. JSF gives them the opportunity to compete in more lavish costumes as the PICS show.

From 1967 to 1982 BBC1 got involved in the tournament by entering teams from around Britain.

In the early 90s, S4C (the Welsh Channel Four) got involved and entered Welsh teams into Jeux Sans Frontiere for a couple of years.
The picture below shows a bazaar game fom the late 60's of which Eddie Waring and David Vine commentate.

Lets hope it's not too long before they decide to bring back one of the greatest contests of it's kind. Lets give the rest of Europe some competition.
